Solar Heaters

Non-pressurized water heater system

Split water heater system

Solar water heaters

A solar water heater system converts solar radiation into heat that provides hot water. The system consists of a solar collector (usually placed on the roof) and a water storage tank, either directly connected to the collector or separate.

Benefits:

  • Provides you ‘free’ hot water;
  • Saves money on gas or power (and fuel for generator);
  • Does not need power (depending on type);
  • It helps saving the environment.

There are three main types of solar water heaters, these are:

  • Non-pressurized, meaning that the water will flow naturally into the water storage tank;
  • Pressurized, meaning such a system typically requires a pump for the water storage tank;
  • Split, meaning that the collector is separate from the water storage tank.
